A consonant, a consonant,
a vowel, another consonant.

Round after round and
still creating no points.

The child looks up from a page
of letters wrought in graphite…

…in desire, enthusiasm,
ambition…expectation!

Q: “How do you spell alphabet?”
A: “You don’t spell the Alphabet.”

The child cannot spell misunderstanding or mis-communication,
…..or…..frustration.

  2. Hi Gion Gion,
You have captured well the distances between the world of the child and the adult . The innocent question and the equally unqualified response . You wind up with the child being unaware of harsh words like misinformation….
    Nice and original theme.

  5. Krishna says:

You have a way of finding poetry in all the ordinary day to day things. This one is a great example of that quality…we all try and teach our kids but don’t really delve into their psyche of understanding in their way….
    Great composition!!!!

  6. ashwini kumar goswami says:

The word ‘misunderstanding’ was mistaken for a ‘miss standing below” by a womanizer and hearing the word, he jumped down from the roof to meet her and got injured !
