English Poetry, Jan 2012 Contest

It was a dark night
the moon may take time, yet,
the onset of chilled winter.
The little girl couldn’t eat and forget either
the eventful day, thence slept,
late, heavily till the sun’s bright
rays, peeped
and laid gently on her bed.

Woke up, jumping out
of the bed, looked at
her right hand to have a glance
at the glass bangles
that she had bought at a fair;
Sobbed, she, cos she couldn’t find her
two bangles that her dearest boy friend
had just slipped into her hand.

Searched for the bangles under her pillow;
Seeing the broken pieces hollow,
she grieved in pain.
Dressed up soon
and ran to the school, holding breath,
to meet her close friend, at length.

On meeting her friend
on the way, she caught his hand
tightly and wept and wept.;
The sudden sparkles in their eyes
send the first love rays
to each one’s heart;
Consoled he –“ the tiny bubbles broke
while real love struck”.
Pressed her head on his chest, the lad
and the girl,aged twelve each, moved.
