GODDESS LAKSHMI

The Goddess who emerged from churned billows

of milky deep; the deity who bestows

on devotees, eternal affluence

and bliss; the Queen of Vaikunta, who reins

the worlds and Lord Vishnu’s vivid domains

that holy Mother, let remain in my

spirit and thought as the Guardian Ally

Ensconced on a Lotus bloom, in Lotus posture,

O’ Lotus eyed, O’ coral lipped and smeared

with pure white sandalwood pastes, O’ Mother!

Diffusing efflorescent smiles at floral tributes,

oblations and holy ablutions by devout

elephants, flanking You, O’ Mother!

Thy moistened Lotus feet, with sprinkled

crystalline drizzle, let ablate our minds

off sins and thoughts obscene, Oh Mother!

Grieving lives, deprived and needy brothers

seek thy boon, thy alms and love, O’ Mother!

Grace our homes, our hearts and thoughts and immerse

our ill-bred minds in showers of virtuous nectar.

Very elegant and beautiful prayer in English
In auspicious Sanskrit Verse style and meaning.
Lovely attempt & effect
Commendable indeed
Liked immensely

When Lakshmi enters the house
One does not quite come to know
But when Lakshmi leaves the house
You sure do feel the jhatka.

All women are regarded
As the form of Goddess Lakshmi
But alas Goddess Lakshmi
Even left her Lord, the Lord Vishnu
Wonder how long can this Lakshmi
Remain at one place
And shower her blessings
On the deserving

When Goddess Saraswati blesses one
She stays with the person for atleast a lifetime
When Goddess Durga blesses one
A person may feel her presence and her blessings
Throughout his life

But wonder of wonders
You never know whether Goddess Lakshmi
Would ever bless you forever
For she is the most fickle
And she is temporary
She comes and goes

And is also prompt to curse
Those who speak bad about her
So deprived of wealth
You can’t even complain
There is simply no remedy.
