Crowned Poem, English Poetry

Flee, flee, fair buttterfly –

Brush past the edge

Of this cactus-congested world,

Infested with crows and cats;

Beware, lest their pecks and scrats,

Graze your frail wings.

And yet, had I the choice,

I’d rather that my life would be,

An eye-twinkle sparkle like yours,

Than a gaping glint like theirs.

    Kusum,
beautiful. A lightness of language for profound thought and a little sadness.
    “Of this cactus-congested world,
Infested with crows and cats;” –
“I’d rather that my life would be,
An eye-twinkle sparkle like yours,” – I like the sounds as much as the words.
However, don’t be too hard on the poor cats 🙂

      Dear friends,
Thanks a lot for your very substantial comments.
Its amazing how these frail beautiful creatures like butterflies survive and thrive against other mighty & violent creatures including humans in this universe & add a charm to our life like a jewel of a dew/rain-drop or an evanescent rainbow.

That is indeed a beautiful poem! The desire to live a spirited and beautiful life as opposed to just existing is so well penned! Truly, life deserves to be lived in it’s full form!
