Crowned Poem, English Poetry

                                                     Journey’s End

The blind man seeks sight,

The man of hazy vision seeks specs;

But what need of sight or specs,

For the one who has sought

The truth within?

The lame man seeks legs,

The weak-legged seeks crutches;

But what need of legs or crutches,

For the one who has reached

The journey’s end?

Kusum

    Kusum,
    thought provoking.
    The first verse seem straight forward but the second is open to interpretation.
    Do we worry too long or is help too late?
    It is said that hearing is the last sense to go at the end – which voice will we strain to hear…an approaching one or the one that is receding?

    Hi Kusum,
    Wow , thats deeply, deeply philosophical . Can be read at two levels a) physical – a man who has lost every sense has nothing more to lose b) spiritual — for the one who has made friend with his infirmities and come to terms with his situation , he has reached transcendence and has seen the God within. For him the journey has ended. Nice title too .
    Beautiful …..

    Very intense beautiful and thought blasting poem
    Liked immensely
    Kudos for this beauty.
    The poem in effect rightfully reveals that having eyes we are but blind and having legs we are very lame and incapacitated unless we seek truth within and march thus towards our Journey’s end. Having eyes and legs are infinitesimal for revealing truth & undertaking successful life’s journey to its deserving end.,

      @medhini,
      Dear Friends of p4poetry,
      Thanks for your invigorating comments on my poem.
      Very refreshing outlook that furthers the thought-process.
      This poem was inspired while studying Vedanta philosophy. It has three levels of thinking – physical, mental and spiritual.
      The emotional under current runs through on a personal level as in all lyrical outpourings.

    Kusum,
    Short and sweetest poem I have ever read.
    It is like those verses which keep you giving millions and millions of possibilities on how to interpret the verses. Liked it immensely. True talent can be seen by these words.
    Eric.
