Anthology 2013 Entries, Crowned Poem, English Poetry

              Feeling forlorn

               he set out of home

               with wavering footsteps across

the labyrinth leading to the cemetery.

               Stood still near the tomb

               bearing the inscription, “Florence.”

               Kneeled down facing it

               with palms on the chest

               mused for a while oblivious.

“My beloved might have fought callously

               and argued with me sharply

               in the past few months

               to distance herself

leaving me here to live on.

               Deepest and fondest memories

               are those that bring forth

               our saddest moments

               shared between us in chaos.”

    Medhini,
so beautiful and touching….heart-rending and tear creating.
I read it and each line impacted on my inner, deeper self.
It feels a perfect expression of grief and love and loss. What empathy and sympathy must have created this poem!
This is a wonderful poem. I think it is the best that I have read so far,
    Fergus

Poem, too intensely beautiful & touching in its own unique refined style.
Am in total affirmation of Fergus’s beautifully apt appreciation of the poem.
    Hearty Kudos, indeed
