English Poetry

Like a bride , the banyan ,outside the window ,

re drapes itself in tender leaves of green and red.

It’s a living testimony to eternal change and renewed glow.

The ageing banyan and its  unfurling new head.

Underneath the banyan lies  a mound  of dead leaf-meal

in overwhelming  abundance , heaped heavily,

hewn , strewn and all brown.

Old thoughts, old piques , one  hoards and waits ,

The banyan watches and rejuvenates

with consummate ease .

Overcoming  the human disease .

It moves at  a quick and seasonal pace ,

as it believes in the diurnal dates .

    Sarala,
there is a serene feel to this poem.
The changes through the three verse seem effortless.
” The banyan watches and rejuvenates” – nice image,
