Rites and homage

                       After death, almost all, indulge

in conducting various rites for the dead

                       however illogical, it may seem,

                               to revive, pamper

                       and fondle endearing memories.

                                         ***

By paying homage to the dead

                       more than honouring the dead

hero or a close one, rather it

                       promotes fraternity and harmony

                       among the groups of people

                             and gives a lesson

                       to the onlookers to respect

whomsoever, one may meet and acquaint with.

                                           ***

                             As a healthy practice,

                             isn’t it desirable to continue

to perform various rites, after death

                      and pay yearly tribute to the departed ones;

                      leaving aside the religious colour?

various rites only wipes out the sudden shock of death of near and dear ones.Everyone is busy throughout the time.THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT IN MY OPINION.HOW to console yourself in such situations?

Beautiful poem carrying a very meaningful point.
I am a proponent & believer in such rites normally performed and they have a lot of meaning which are given in the scriptures. To disrespect or ridicule them with whatever attitude, understanding or half knowledge is, according to me, very unwise.

A nice and meaningful poem, Medhini.
कौन रोता है किसी और की ख़ातिर ऐ दोस्त
सबको अपनी ही किसी बात पे रोना आया.
