English Poetry

I look into the distant future,
and wonder aloud in silent awe.
Look into the difference in nature,
and in surprise raise my brow.

We were then simple and naive,
country bumpkins careless and carefree.
Nothing much to aim for and strive,
spent our lives in laughter and glee.

Never thought about morrow much,
life had been, is and will be hope such.
Sometimes though fear creeps in,
what if the future is a bit unclean.

You think you’ve made it,
through grit and greed.
But situations rolls on fresh,
afresh like an unseen face.

I look back in reverence and awe,
look forward like a startled doe.
Humbled ever like at this moment,
assured of paths crossed and bent.

    Krishna,
I will have to come back to this. Maybe it’s the changing, strained rhyming or some turns of phrase but I seem to be spending more time reading the words than understanding the sentences. I can feel something there but it eludes my mind,
