The Round-about

One sunny afternoon on my way back to school,

I saw a middle-aged couple looking kind of lost.

He was looking at a map and feeling like a fool,

Just cannot figure out how his routes got crossed.

She stops me, now he’s trying to keep his cool,

She asks for directions, in his eyes a hint of frost.

Just go straight through at the round-about”

But he immediately cuts me off.

Saying, “But it’s a round-abowt.

Ye cawn’t gow straight through at a round-abowt”

Look! Just go straight through at the round-about”

But again he cuts me off.

Repeating, “But it’s a round-abowt.

Ye cawn’t gow straight through at a round-abowt!”

So I fire off a retort while trying to keep my cool.

Saying, “Hey, Pal, it’s you the one that’s lost!”.

Poem with a nice unique intention, to narrate something that happens in day to day life.Specifically, the lines that mention
(………….he’s trying to keep his cool,
………………………………………………
retort while trying to keep my cool…)
how elders and youngsters try to keep cool in such kind of interactions.

Beautiful take on & delivery of the incident.
Liked very much. Meaningful
We have people who not only do not pay any heed to request made and are unhelpful or curt in their responses; but we also have people who forget who is making the request when some one tries to help them in their request, like in this case. :-)
