The Unbearable Lightness

Truth is heavy
Like a sackful of stones that falls on the ocean’s bottom
Few can reach out to it
Some fish gnaw at it out of curiousity
It rusts and moulds
Aching for a loving touch
Forlorn and forever alone

A lie is so light
It refuses to sink
Bobbing and tantalising on the ocean’s surface
Waves keep lapping it up making it shine even more
It glistens and glimmers
You touch it and yearn for more
It makes you its slave

Ps- The title is taken from Milan Kundera’s book – The Unbearable Lightness Of Being

Yes, Milan Kundera!… He’s a fascinating writer… The title brought me to this poem and good to see the acknowledgement!… And i must say, the poem is equally fascinating!… The juxtaposition is quite apt… Justifies the title!…

I really like this poem. Your analogy between truth and lies is very profound. I especially like the imagery of solitude and loneliness about the truth at the bottom of the sea. Very nicely composed!

This poem is good…………….Really a good thought…………..I must say original…………..

But you don’t have to make the heavy part “large” font and the light part “small font”……………..The presentation lags here………………….

Must the quality of poem is superb……………Million stars from my side………..

Great one ma’am…comparison overfloating makes it all the more interesting. this time all the lines were ‘heard’ aloud. your poems in any which case has the depth that a staunch poet lover would sought for in every poetry.

Yeah, lie after lie, it never sinks. How apt. Very very nice write. The depth, unmeasured!
