There was a poor man in a village

And a landlord who large wealth managed

He wanted everyone to know his generosity

So he used to distribute his bounty.

One day a sage from far of place

Was searching in village to rest a place

Knowing this the landlord rushed to the sage

Showering gifts asked the sage to rest in his house.

The poor man with a fruit as gift

Also asked the sage his home to visit

Sage was happy to comply

Which made the landlord sigh.

He with distress asked the sage to clarify

Sage replied, “You gave me gift from part of your wealth,

But poor man gifted me the only thing he possessed

So his generosity is worth to be praised”

This is so much like the story of Guru Nanak who chose to eat at the poor man’s house and took out blood from the land lord’s rich food. Very nicely composed.
