Through the forest in the dark

English Poetry

I walked through the narrow lane,

Of the forest, in that dark night,

On a new moon night, a few stars twinkled in line,

The trees appeared as giant monsters in the night.

Foxes and wolves howled in the night,

Or it appeared to me so, in the dark,

Terrified, my legs hesitated to move in that night,

Wild birds screeched, my heart beat faster, tick, tick.

I couldn’t   move backward or forward,

My body trembled with fear,

I saw a gleam of light, moving forward,

And I followed the gleam in sheer fear.
