The Orphanage
At a visit to the orphanage
I see those little smiling faces
What joy they have,
no one can tell
as behind that smile lies,
a different world.
they know no where they come from,
or they will go.
their home is their orphangae
and the love bestowed on them
from the care takers to every visitor
that comes to see them or pick
one of them.
Alas they wait their turn to come
to live in this wide world
little do they know that they
would get more peace and happiness
in the orphangae than in this big
wide world.
Amen I write.

I’m sorry bit I do not agree with the last stanza- you may have written this with a particular example in mind - but it is a blessing for the parents as well as the child who gets adopted from an orphanage and gets to live as a normal child in a happy environment.
I have seen quite a few orphanages and the state of affairs is quite pathetic.
This i can say with conviction since we have a 3 year old daughter that we adopted from an orphanage
Sorry Renu, but for a few its, like I ahve seen abroad.
That is so sweet to adopt a little girl. Bless her and the parents who adopted her.

The poem is indeed good & features our general feeling about the children growing up in an orphanage.
Why not attempt a poem of empathy, to depict the feelings of a child growing up in the orphanage; what they may be missing & their aspirations/ expectations from society & the world at large.
