A Midnight Hope……..

This poem spells out the feeling of Nehru just before he would go and unfurl the Indian flag.

Hold me true and stout

to this brightened night,

when mine be my heart

and me to judge the waiting light.

Hold me, for the burden of the blood,

and cries that the heart has amassed,

turns me anxious, a shoulder me,

to unfurl a pride in cast.

For the dusk be ours, I firmly plead

and their sun now in fade.

So let me stride, a freedom, a blessed need,

away from a sun, in the murky shade.

Me a child to cradle the mother

as she waits the bloody embrace.

To hide the pains those still tear her

So I choose the Midnight face.

Oh Mother, help me furl, this freedom,

and keep those winds on my side

and let them lead me away from this darkness

to a world that is denied.

A very satisfying read.liked it immensely. You have tried something completely non-ulhas,but you pulled it off well.

I don’t disagree with krishna too.You didn’t wanted to write this one…did you?anyway,if it is so then hats off….it worked:)

This is a very old poem, I had written this poem with my whole heart put in, though when I modifed it {modified 2 to 3 lines} so as to make it fresh and new, it was done reluctantly.

Anyways Krishnaji, Shreyanshji, Medhiniji, thanks for the opinion, I always like opinions especially you 3 here and a few more on this site.

A nice poem for the independence day, though whatever Nehruji thought or dreamt hasnt come true to a large extent.
