Ghostly knock…

I was home all alone,

in my room with the lights on.

The main door from inside was locked,

when somebody to my bedroom door knocked.

It was a scary feeling, a thing surely impossible,

when something knocked though was invisible.

In the middle of the dead night,

never had experienced such a fright.

Didn’t have the guts to open the door and verify,

for the knock was audible and I didn’t want to try.

What if there was surely something standing?,

not just my imagination but an experience haunting.

I don’t believe in ghosts is what I used to say,

but that knock was real and I heard it anyway.

There’s something for sure in the dark,

trying to tell us something without leaving a mark.

Or else why are some places so nice and cozy,

and some are weird, dark and very uneasy.

It may look stupid to believe when logic is applied,

but on ghostly experience nothing can be implied.

Good poem. Builds up a suspense with the question unanswered in the end. Sure, one may or may not believe in ghosts, but instinct does warn if something might be amiss.

‘The gut feeling of a person
Arising from dep within the mind…

It warns the unwary lone ranger
Of some impending danger
It gives rise to feelings eerie
In moments not at all scary …. ”
