An easy escape…

Lost in my thoughts, unaware of the chatter,

as my mind raced like the car’s speedometer.

All of a sudden I am off to a dreamy state,

thinking of people in a long while I haven’t met.

I zoom off straight back home,

where my Mum lives all alone.

I remember the paddy fields,

yellow everywhere as earth’s shield.

I go back and play cricket right out there,

from dawn to dusk, like an everyday affair.

Just run back home when extremely hungry,

back again soon to play with all and sundry.

Think of my Grandma who’s old and sick,

Johnny’s wagging tail and the way he used to lick.

Think of the weather so clear, cool and blue sky,

of irresponsible times when on life we were high.

Back to reality when the car comes to a stop,

busy with my usual job till I get my drop.

To and fro, the same thing over and over again,

want to escape so badly from this repetitive chain.
