Traitor
This poem is about the leaf which deserts the tree every time for its new found love and returns when it could not win over its love, it again returns home (that’s is it will come back to twig again)
Twigged in the springs of love
blossomed to the golden dew.
For I hate to see it now
followth the flowers which blew
Flown away to the sudden breeze
and couldn’t decide its stay.
In dire storms, it furls to cease
to set away on a merrier way.
The barrens of whose breast
and its cries, which it wouldn’t heed.
So it left the tree, slept at rest
in its own selfish greed.
In springs that would follow;
from the dust of its never found love.
it will return to its willow
and dance on the sticks, above.

The leaf does not divorce the tree. It is the tree which sheds the leaf when the leaf gets old.
Your preamble to the poem as also the poem try to portray the fact the other way round which may be hurting to the reader. This is just my feeling.
