Our national bird
Do birds and insects dance?
Yes. They do: but in their own style;
To communicate their basic needs
And their availability or whatsoever.
The honeybee workers dance in a special style;
To give a hint to the other bees; that-
The food is available near or far;
So, the other bees come in swarms to fetch them.
Haven’t you noticed the ant’s line?
They leave a trail of chemicals,
To help the other ants to follow them;
In the proper direction, to get them food.
Peacock, the most beautiful bird-
You might have seen so far;
Does dance, by spreading its coloured feathers,
At the sight of clouds and rain drops.
Peacocks dance and make a rough noise,
For many other purposes which they want-
To communicate to the groups:
They move their long shiny necks, when they dance.
In the poet’s eyes, they are nice messengers,
Even the dead peacocks are useful;
As the craftsmen make fans and other-
Decorative articles with their feathers.
Remember, all creatures, big and small
Communicate to each other;
In their own groups, for essential needs:
But, mankind, who boasts mastery
Over speech, leaves a gap, often.
The legendary god Krishna, adores his head,
With the cute and multi coloured peacock feathers;
Isn’t it joyful to protect our National bird-
For pleasure, inspiration and aesthetic beauty?
