Your Winged Messenger
Yesterday, as I was reminiscing
And thinking about thee,
A nightingale flew up to me
And whispered in my ear –
“Hear! Hear this sweet music
Given me by thy friend
Of whom are thee thinking now
In this quiet solitude !”
She then sang a sonnet
So sweet and so pleasant –
My heart was filled with happiness
And pranced about with joy.
Her song reconfirmed my thought –
In thee I have a friend that’s true.
I knew not what to say to her,
Me thinks she knew what I had to say !
