Where have the rains gone

Where have the rains gone?

Where have the peacocks gone?

Its almost the end of June,

Its almost the end… of a month of monsoon.

It came as a glimmer of hope….

For the parched souls and trees…

Like a deep shimmering light

But went away after the initial days

Now all is there is the sun

And all we can do is watch the clouds,

When will the black ones return?

And pour down the next spell of rains

Where have the rains gone?

Is this what we call global warming?

Or is this a global warning…

Of things to expect in the near future

During Winter, it was unusually cold,

During Summer, it was too blistering hot,

And we thought now that it is the monsoons…

There would be a heavy downpour

Instead of the thunderous applause…

Of the clouds and the sky…

All we are getting is a meager ensemble

Of them scattered thin and far.

Where have the rains gone?

Should we pray to the rain gods?

Should we plant more trees on land?

And appease them for a while

When will we learn?

When will we stop the destruction…

When will we stop cutting trees, killing animals and precious birds

For the interest of a small segment of humankind.

Or will it only get worse?

Is there a glimmer of hope?

That some enlightened minds…

Will come to the rescue of our mother earth.

Good Poem, Liked it substantially.
Suggest following small addition;

“When will we stop cutting trees, killing animals and precious birds
For the cruel & evil interests of a small segment of humankind.”

Good one, keep it up…………

“Now all is there is the sun”….
Suggest you change it to ” Now all remains is the Sun”

Can some enlightened minds save it? Maybe everybody needs to rise and come to the rescue
