English Poetry

The clamours of the heart

The chirping of the birds

all lead me to a path

That leads to more hurts.

I hear the chirps and the laughter

And rejoice on them thereafter

But when my heart too calls out

I find no one that speaks out.

I feel the loss, and, panic

I cry out: the voice echoes;

But no response- only solitude-

That howls back at me in mimic.

I shrivel, taunted by the silence,

Wishing for the peace of mind

Wishing for some little defence

To calm the deep wounds of time.

    This is just so wonderfully written that the reader can feel the ache of the words in their own heart …
    sometimes one wonders if this pain is to be cherished for this is the pain that makes are more human and empathetic and ‘poetry’ is normally a child of ‘love’ or ‘pain’ ..
    beautiful !
