About “Thinking Clearly”….!
A very important day & event in my life,
Working in a wellknown organization, of visible height,
And in an important meeting that day,
which was very tense and tight…
Chaired by a retired top government official,
Who had just joined the company
with high position and might…
A real Boss, posing as very active, powerful & tight.
There, I, a young budding promising engineer, then
presenting a new proposal, close to my heart,
in a manner, I thought was really to the point,
Fantastic & bright,
For, the subject was studied well, & I was confident,
In it, I had real insight,
I therefore made my presentation
without any worry or fright……
The presentation ended,
with my people’s encouraging & admiring smiles…..
And I thought everything had gone nicely & right….
Wanting to hear the words & final ok from the Might.
Everyone was anxious & quiet.
Like everyone, I also became silent,
And waited to hear the appreciation with delight.
My God..!!, To my & everyone’s surprise,
Boss blurted …..“ Nothing in your presentation is right,
You are full of confusion,
Very fragmented and not to the point.
So is your presentation & your division’s plight…
How you dare present such a thing tonight”…
Etc…etc…bla.. bla…bla and so on….
All of which went out of my ear’s sight
And finally the Boss ended…
“ Young man , I find you totally confused.
Go and learn to think clearly…. be always forthright”
I was stunned but heard these last words
clearly & with fright.
Gathering my wits, there & then ,
& remembering what I had read
from “Peter Principle” then,
I retorted to the might,
remaining straight & tight…
“Sir, thank you for your observations,
Which are in my sight,
But permit me to say,
what I understand from an authority
That is widely read, acclaimed, and right…
That ” In the world of today, If you are not confused,
you are just not thinking clearly & right.”
“And pecisely of this, we may have lost sight”
At this all members fell silent & aghast,
So also the boss…..
For, knowingly or unknowingly, I had
challenged the authority’s might.
Gathering himself, Boss, then,
Quietly stood up & announced…
” I have nothing now to say. We will see what to do.
The meeting ends here and all can go out”
So did the meetings end in silence, uneasy quiet
My friends profusely admired
& congratulated me for this fight
And later I also got ”The Reward” from the Authority
For bringing the matter of this “Thinking clearly”
In to everyone’s sight, in this open fight.
Friend’s I am leaving it to you,
To guess, what may have been
My reward for this fight…? Right…!

nice poem Sir, rather a poetic prose, i guess the reward was that u r proposal got sanctioned…right?
You are free to post any form of poetry .New experiments especially encouraged ![]()
Good one…enjoyed reading
Dear Vishvnand,
The very step of going on a untrodden path is a victory in itself regardless of how this orthodox world perceives that. Atleat you are telling the world one more way of doing the same thing. Your poem is riveting enough to keep the reader attention bound till the end. As for your reward as I said “challenging” the existing norm is a reward in itself for one’s being and much bigger and greater than what ensues. It is that challenge which will become fount for all what is in store for if good ensues its ok and if bad ensues that actually is only the leftover darkness of a dawn all set to put forth a bright day.

Friends,..I have felt encouraged, in this very short but very valuable association with p4poetry, to put this narration of a non-poetic incident, in this form, as an experiment.
I do not know how it will be received by you all, my estimable colleagues. If found ok & acceptable, in sincerity, the credit must rightly belong to
p4poetry for their providing this platform & environment of encouragement.
If not found o.k., the responsibility is totally mine.
