TRUSTING YOURSELF
Trust is such strong word, you must know
Trust cannot be bought, it can only flow
From one to another, smooth, easy and free
It’s a quality that must have shine and glow
Trust breaks, the heart shatters, pieces fly
Sincere is one, but the other has turned sly
One wonders, one frets, one is ready to cry
Often asking should I live, or should I just die.
Hope springs eternal in the human breast
A bird some day, would leave its nest
Trust your love; it will be your only bet,
Love alone stands, this very stringent test.
But the one trust that you must never lose
This trust you must so very carefully choose
Is to trust yourself, through thick and thin
Or you’ll surely end, with your neck in a noose.

The poem raises a few questions. Love is blind, therefore, is it to be trusted? I’d much rather trust a mute dog than a living, thinking human, given that love is a much tortuous pathway with many a twist and turn that are impossible to negotiate without stumbling.
Nice, thoughtful poem.

Thank you all for your comments.
It is my opinion that love is indeed blind–but not as we know a blind person. Love is blind to many human shortcomings– fallacies, status, socioeconomic class, religion, caste, creed, nationality, reason and logic, divisions and discriminations of all kinds, age, and disease. Love being blind is not a negative quality as we believe it to be–it is the highest quality, where everything and everyone is equal,as God or existence meant it to be.
when you trust yourself you are honest, sincere, and truthful
that way your body language, speech, and deeds are respected and trusted by fellow humans.
trust and hope….to quote a line from the matrix, “hope…. it’s simultaneously mankind’s greatest strength and biggest weakness”….. good thinking… nice poem
I would like to add that “one should Trust oneself” automatically means trusting also in one’s own ability to place trust/faith on right kind of people, principles and things in life and become more & more refined as one progresses in life.
The content of the poem is indeed very good, as seen also from the analytical comments generated by it
