Fading Away (inspired by poet priyal’s work)

\"Fading Away\"

The sun

retracts its promises

slinks back

ashamed.

Promises

of verdant greens

fed by its veins

of a chiaruscuro

light and dark

depth and shadow

day and night.

All gone.

Remnants

of promises

protrude in jagged angles

disfiguring

today’s flesh.

The sea

laughs silently.

Absorbing

death

and life

The dead and

the born

It waits.

The sky

displays its hues

to a world

gone blind.

Clouds

rush past

unnerved

at the silence.

I wait.

I see.

I smell.

Decay.

Death.

And a few

ripples

of struggling

hope.
